    Swimming Pool Series

Together with the graceful movement of the swimmer, Sandra has captured both the constantly changing movement of the surface reflective quality of the water as well as the depth of the pool – a subject she finds fascinating and mesmerising.

    Lourdes in the Rain

A series of three paintings produced following a visit to Lourdes, France on a very rainy day.

    Snow Series

A series of two paintings developed from photographs taken in Les Carroz, France.  Here Sandra explores different eye levels in order to emphasise the incline of the slopes.

    Picnic

The original photograph was taken near the Dordogne, France. The shadows cast by the bright light of the trees with the family picnicking in the shade, inspired Sandra to work into this image in a painting style evocative of the French Impressionists.

    Les Sables d’Or

Sandra looks at the magnificent colour and textural qualities of the beach at sunset.

    Panoramic Images

Sandra created each of these panoramic images from a series of photographs (usually between 3-12) taken from many different vantage points whilst on a walk or a journey. Using her competent drawing skills, the photographs have been imperceptibly melded together into a single composite image.

    North East Beaches

Walking along a huge beach offers us the opportunity to stretch ourselves and breathe. Sandra felt that the panoramic format was ideal to express such a sense of space. A number of these pictures were commissioned by One Northeast, as well as by private individuals.

    Cityscapes – Baltic Series

A series of images produced as an interpretation of city life. Taken through the glass lift in the viewing gallery at the Baltic Art Gallery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Sandra explores the silhouettes of people set in, and against a man-made environment.

    Dancers

Sandra has always loved dance and music and aims to express in her images the particular quality of different dance rhythms and movement. In 2004 she was commissioned to photographically document a group of Zimbabwean dancers, which resulted in her colourful series of paintings ‘African Dancers’. More recently she has also produced images of both Flamenco and Cabaret dancers.
