Biography
Born in Lancashire, England, Sandra began her art and design education at Liverpool College of Art before moving to Kingston-upon-Hull Regional College of Art where she gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art. She took her teaching diploma at London Institute of Education and went on to work in several Art and Design Colleges, at first as a lecturer, and later as Programme Manager and Head of Department.
Sandra has had work on display as part of group exhibitions in the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool, Whitworth Gallery Manchester, and the Midland Group Gallery Nottingham. Her work has been selected for the prestigious Singer Friedlander Competition and exhibited in the Mall Galleries London, as well as for the ‘50 over 50’ competition and exhibition in the University of Brighton Gallery. From 2006 to 2008 a major body of her work, carefully selected to benefit a hospital environment, toured a number of hospitals in the North of England. In 2008, as well as mounting a one person show ‘A Sense of Place’ at Newcastle Arts Centre, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, she moved to France, and has since exhibited in Café Cosi, Biarritz.
