Sandra is currently writing and illustrating a book for children, her ideas largely influenced by her spiritual practice and love of nature.

Sandra will be exhibiting her work in 'Salle Pili Taffernaberry' Bidart from 28th July to 4th August 2011.




Biography

Born in Lancashire, England, Sandra started her art and design education at Liverpool College of Art before moving on to Kingston upon Hull Regional College of Art. She took her teaching Diploma at the London Institute of Education and went on to work in several Art and Design Colleges, at first as a lecturer, and later as Programme Manager and Head of Department.

Working for many years in a creative environment provided a constantly rich and fertile ground for creative ideas, and stimulated Sandra's thinking. Experienced in preparing young artists and designers for the future, she is familiar with contemporary thinking, use of the latest technology, and state of the art equipment.

Sandra has had work on display as part of group exhibitions in the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool, Whitworth Art Gallery Manchester and the Midland Group Gallery Nottingham. She has also had a one person show in Cumbria and her work was selected for the prestigious Singer Friedlander Competition and exhibited at the Mall Galleries, London. In 2006 her work was also one of 50 pieces selected from over 1800 entries across the UK for 50 over 50 Exhibition, held at the University of Brighton Gallery. Each piece was selected by the judges on the basis of work that exemplified diveristy, vitality, excellence and innovation. From 2006 to 2008 a major body of her work, carefully selected to benefit a hospital environment, toured a number of hospitals in the North of England. In 2008 she exhibited in France at Atelier D3 and Cafe Cosi, Biarritz, as well as holding a one person show in the UK, 'A Sense of Place' at Newcastle Arts Center, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
