About Sandra

Over the years Sandra's work has been well received both in the UK and France where she now lives. More recently she has had a large-scale exhibition touring hospitals as well as a one-person show in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She has also shown work in many bars and restaurants, both in the UK and France.

Her interest in how we as humans interact with our environment and nature has always been the main subject of her work. As part of this theme of enquiry during 2005/06 she visited Peru, South Africa and Egypt visually recording the journeys on the way.

Sandra took up the practice of meditation many years ago. At the same time as lecturing in Art College she has led a very busy life raising 4 children as a single parent. However throughout, her spiritual practice has always been a fundamental part of her life. In recent years Sandra has taken a keen, deep and practical interest in all aspects of healing which, together with her meditation practice, has become central to her life and ideas.

She has now decided to devote more of her creative time to writing and illustrating a book for children, combining her experience as a teacher, knowledge of the creative process and her spiritual ideas. She believes that there is so much written material available for adults on these themes, but little or nothing for children. 'Our culture provides children with few guidelines these days. There is so much written about 'self development' for the adult population, but little for the child.

I hope my forthcoming book will inspire children, or for those of us a little older, 're-inspire' us. I hope to reawaken childhood curiosity and the desire to know and understand more about this amazing universe of which we are a part. It can appear to children these days that science 'knows it all', and it doesn't, " says Sandra.

"When things in the world are troubling, our need is not to join the chaos, but to cleave the peace within. The only way to gain power in a world that is moving too fast is to learn to slow down. The only way to spread ones influence is to go deep. The world we want for our children will not emerge from electronic speed, but from spiritual stillness that takes root in our souls."
